SDNP Guatemala:  Empowering Indigenous Women.....
The Center for Mayan Women Communicators (CMCM)
is a non-profit organization whose website is hosted by SDNP which also provides it technical support. The center's activities are determined by the indigenous women who participate and coordinated by a directive committee.  It functions primarily as a center for indigenous women to :
  • unite and communicate
  • develop skills in communications technology to enable them to better their representation in the world and in the media.  Video and photography are often used as tools for research, reflection and organization. Workshops are offered in video, photography, computer use and internet communication.
  • share information with neighboring communities who can indentify with the local images in the videos. Visual media are used to cross barriers of language and literacy.
E-commerce in Traditional Handicrafts, woven bags, miniatures...

The products that you see on this page come from  different indigenous groups from the regions of Sololá, Quiché, Huehuetenango & Chimaltenango. Most of the producers live in isolated areas where they have little opportunity to sell their products. CMCM  helps the women to find alternative markets and keep these tradional crafts alive.
