SDNP shuffle
Dear Sir,
Actually I did take minutes - from what I have, your note belwo
is correct and complete.
Just to let you know - The phone line changes have been
requested, and boxes to help pack from maintenance. The phones
should be moved on monday and after checking last night, we only need
computers and personal stuff (no desks, filing cabinets at
present, so everyone will be in charge of their own moving of boxes
and I'll be available for computer hook-ups, etc.)
I'm writing maintenance today about the shelf move which will free up
Rachel's space a bit. I do not have an estimate as to when they will
be able to get this done. I'll also enquire as to getting a cost
estimate on building Rachel's office.
I also wish to suggest, privately, that Rachel's office over here
needs to be reviewed (If it already hasn't and a decision been made)
We cannot provide her with proper UNOPS computer support; She is
responsible for other UNOPS-managed programmes, and as a PMO, her
support staff is supported to come from UNOPS, not SDNP.
Honestly, I feel we pay for a PMO from UNOPS twice (The evaluation
calls for a financial administrator - what we got was a competent and
attentive PMO.) UNOPS should get credit for a whole new way of
making money by having projects pay for a PMO twice, house them,
provide them with computer and administrative support.
My foremost reason for mentioning this is as you can see, space is a
concern here, and I don't want SDNP to have to pay for remodelling
for a situation which we may not be able to sustain effectively in
the first place.
I'll contact you further as to the move - call me x5565 if you think
of anything else.
Sincerely,
Barry

Hi everyone,
Here's the points I got from the staff meeting. Let me know if anyone has
anything to change or add.
1. Chuck promised a cappuccino machine, and Raul should follow up.
2. We're ready for the office move, and everyone is in agreement on who
sits where. Barry is in charge of the move.
. Raul moves to Chuck's office, which Raul will share with me when I'm
there, and the conference table (Barry should get a nameplate put up
pronto.)
. Radhika moves to Raul's office
. Taholo, Hiroshi and Daniela have the next two offices to sort out amongst
themselves
. Rachel's space becomes a real office with a door. The shelves should be
removed and the files put in new shelves in Raul's and Radhika's offices.
Barry will prepare a cost estimate before proceeding
. Chi, Myanet and Vietnet get Radhika's office, along with other visiting
consultants (on a space available basis) and the computer equipment.
. Lianne and Barry stay put, and Lianne's space is also available for
visiting consultants when she's not there.
3. Rachel needs UNDP software programmes and a work station at UNOPS to do
her work effectively. For UNDP Radhika should follow up with Maudlyn and
if she fails I'll look into it. For space at UNOPS I will follow up with
Ingunde.
4. Contracts - once we're clear that the money is there we should extend
the staff contracts as appropriate. I will prepare the necessary requests,
with guidance from Rachel.
5. Action is needed on the SIDSnet extension, and Taholo is working on the
cost-sharing agreements from the Regional Bureaux. He's also doing a draft
for the next phase document. These are both due shortly.
6. On SDNP funding, I will be following up on the progress of "The Letter"
in my meeting with Eimi today. I contacted Phil Dobie, and we will review
the Capacity 21 portfolio the week after next when he returns. Meanwhile
Radhika should wow everyone in London.
7. I'm preparing a circular letter introducing myself to SDNP
coordinators. I'll also find out from the inactive ones what their
intentions are for SDNP support, and we can prepare a tentative "cut list"
on that basis.
8. I will schedule an early brainstorming session on the future of SDNP.
9. Next time, somebody should be assigned to take minutes (I'd forgot.)
Steve
