ICTD Partnerships

Bridgeit Programme: A partnership with Nokia, the International Youth Foundation and Pearson to support teachers training and multimedia content development for elementary schools. A pilot in the Philippines was launched in November 2002. Nokia alone is contributing over $1.5. The international launching of the pilot took place in Manila in May 2003.

Cisco Networking Academies: The first phase of the partnerships was launched in 1999 in Asia through UNDP's APDIP. The initial agreement was to deploy Cisco academies in 10 countries in the region with APDIP being the regional centre. The first phase ended in 2002. The second phase was launched at the G-8 Okinawa summit and focuses on Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The programme has worked mostly in Africa where over 15 countries have actively joined the programme with support from UNDP Country Offices.

Coca Cola Foundation Long Life Learning Programme: Coke Foundation has provided a cash contribution of close to $300,000 to support a SchoolNet/lon life learning programme in Malaysia. The programme was launched in early 2002. A similar programme was launched in Bolivia with in 2003 a contribution of close to one million dollars from the foundation. The Bolivian porgramme will run for five years.

Red Hat support to SDNP: Since 1998, Red Hat has been donating Open Source Software and related expertise to UNDP. Software donations are distrubuted to over 80 countries. The agreement is still active.
